Ford has recalled 105,441 Mustang coupes and convertibles from model years 2024-2025 because water can leak into the bodywork and short out many of their lights. Ford says the cars can lose taillights, front and rear side marker lights, and license plate lights.
The lights can flash, fail to activate, or fail to turn off, draining the battery.
The company blames “improperly sealed body seams at the vehicle’s cowl top and lower windshield corner.” Both factory machines and employees sealing seams manually may have failed.
Dealers will inspect the body seams to ensure they are properly sealed, and may replace some wiring to fix the problem.
Ford has a growing recall problem. As of this week, the company has issued 109 recalls this year — well above the previous record of 77 in a single year, with most of four months left to go.
