Ram is recalling about 20,000 2021 Ram Heavy Duty pickup trucks over a fire risk. The company is warning owners to park outside until their vehicles have been repaired.
The recall applies only to trucks equipped with the 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engine. These models may have heater electrical relays that can short circuit, causing a vehicle fire. The fire can start even if the engine is not running and can spread to any structure where the truck is parked.
Ram is aware of three fires that may be blamed on the defect but reports no injuries. Dealers will replace the electrical relay free of charge.
Recall repairs are always free. Manufacturers attempt to contact everyone who owns a recalled vehicle, but they do not always succeed. You can quickly check whether your car has ever been subject to recall at our recall center. Have your VIN handy.
