The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that some trucks may have been built with an improper weld in their steering columns, which could cause a cable to separate. If that happens, it could block an electrical signal that activates the airbag in a crash.
Dealers will fix the problem by replacing that section of the steering column.
