Recall Alert: Chevy Silverado EV Seatbelt Tears

2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV in blue.

Chevrolet has issued a recall for 352 examples of its new 2024 Chevy Silverado EV for a frightening reason – the second-row center seatbelt may tear in a crash.

The company tells federal safety officials, ” An incorrect seat belt bezel installed at the second-row center seating position may damage or tear the seat belt in certain crash conditions.”

GM is not aware of any accidents or injuries attributable to the problem. An engineer spotted it on the assembly line, triggering the recall before any field reports came in.

Dealers will fix it by replacing the center seatbelt bezel with the correct part. Recall repairs are always free.

Manufacturers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. Automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair. But they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. Check the easy VIN tool at our recall center to find out if your car is one of them.
