Stellantis, parent company of Jeep and Ram, has issued a recall for about 2,800 trucks and SUVs that may not properly protect front-seat occupants in a crash.
The affected models include some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2021 Jeep Wrangler
- 2022 Jeep Gladiator
- 2022 Ram 1500
The company tells federal safety regulators that front seatbelt retractors “may have an improperly welded micro gas generator.” That can cause a failure of the pretensioner that cinches the belt tight in an accident.
Dealers will replace the front seatbelt retractors to fix the problem, free of charge.
Dealers can tell which vehicles need repair based on their build date, but it can be difficult to determine your car’s build date on your own. Stellantis will contact owners through the mail, or you can input your car’s vehicle identification number (VIN) at our recall center to see if your car is included in the recall.
Many cars are recalled, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
