Ram, a brand known almost entirely for trucks, will start selling an SUV in 2028, according to a new report.

Antonio Filosa, the new CEO of parent company Stellantis, shared the news with investors at a briefing last week. He promised a “much more comprehensive product range” for the brand, including an SUV available with a pure gasoline powertrain or a range-extended setup.

Range-extended cars utilize electric motors for propulsion and local travel, and feature a gasoline engine that serves as a generator for extended trips.

Industry publication Automotive News reports that Ram will build the SUV in Michigan and a previously reported midsize truck in Ohio.

Ram spun off from the Dodge brand in 2009 and has focused exclusively on trucks and work vans since.
