Tesla has stopped taking orders for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version of its Cybertruck. That makes the truck’s entry cost look considerably higher, but the prices of most trim levels haven’t changed. The company has simply killed off a low-end model that few people chose to buy.

Called the Cybertruck Long Range, the entry-level model had a short lifespan. Tesla introduced the model just five months ago.

The now-dead RWD edition had an MSRP of $69,990. Tesla also charges a $1,995 destination fee and a $250 order fee on all trucks, taking that price to $72,235.

With it gone from the lineup, the least-expensive Cybertruck now costs $82,235. It boasts all-wheel drive (AWD) from a pair of electric motors, one per axle, and a maximum range of 325 miles. That’s well under the longest-range electric pickups. Chevrolet’s Silverado EV leads the current pack with a maximum range of almost 500 miles.

The Cybertruck has had a roller coaster sales ride. At one point, it was the best-selling vehicle in America with a six-figure price tag. Months later, Tesla had overbuilt them to the point that it stopped accepting its own truck as a trade-in to try to clear an inventory glut.
