KBB Review Highlights
Easily recognizable, the 2022 Honda Civic rises high in a class crowded with the Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Elantra, Mazda3, and Nissan Sentra. Like its Honda siblings, the Civic arrives with an array of trims, sharp design, and thrifty fuel economy. Available as a sedan or a hatchback, the Civic is a fan favorite. With this redesigned 2022 model, Honda said it revisited some “timeless design concepts,” giving it a low hood and beltline, creating a subtly sporty design that’s not too busy and creates great outward visibility.
The Honda Civic drives like a Honda, which is to say it injects a little fun into the daily commute without compromising practicality. The 2022 Civic models use a front-wheel drive (FWD) architecture. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) is standard, and you can find Sport and Sport Touring hatchbacks with a 6-speed manual transmission. The stick shift is mandatory in the 200-horsepower Civic Si sedan. As you go up the trim lines, you get more interior features and a turbo engine that bumps up the hp, delivers more torque, and brings a sportier, more powerful ride.
Comfort is at a premium, and this was worked into the design of the Civic. Wider-opening doors, smart seat placement, and improved space utilization eliminate many of the pain points of compact sedans. As you go up the trim lines beyond LX, you’ll find more elevated details like leather-trimmed seating, Bose premium audio, and a power liftgate in the hatchback.
The standard infotainment system has a 7-inch display and wired Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but a 9-inch screen with wireless smartphone connectivity is optional. We love that Honda Sensing comes standard on every 2022 Civic, which bundles automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition. In alignment with Honda’s brand promise of delivering safe, reliable vehicles at a value price, the 2022 Honda Civic comes well-equipped with all the space and comfort that compact car buyers crave.
