KBB Review Highlights
The 2022 Hyundai impressed us with its sleek looks, outstanding tech and connectivity features, unbeatable warranty, and agreeable driving manners. Its 187-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine proved sufficient for most drivers’ needs, while the hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants attracted the efficiency-minded. We like that the Tucson uses an 8-speed automatic transmission instead of the continuously variable types found in some rivals. Those can tend to drone. We found the space inside this SUV good even for taller drivers, along with impressive rear-seat legroom.
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson spanned five trim levels: SE, XRT, SEL, N Line, and Limited. All models include features like Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, cruise control, and safety systems such as forward collision alert with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, driver attention monitor, and rear occupant alert. We’d skip the base model and opt for at least the SEL trim, which includes an 8-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, heated front seats, an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen display with Bluelink and SiriusXM, second-row USB ports, and adaptive cruise control. Top-end Limited trims bring class-exclusive features like Hyundai’s Remote Smart Park Assist, which lets you stand outside the vehicle and pull it into and out of tight spaces, and amenities like a 10.25-inch touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, Bose premium audio, a heated steering wheel, and ventilated front seats.
