What Is Pedestrian Detection?

Pedestrian detection is an advanced driver assistance system that utilizes cameras, radar, and, potentially, lidar sensors to identify humans in the vehicle’s path at moderate speeds. The system alerts the driver that a collision is imminent and may even initiate automatic emergency braking, if integrated with pedestrian detection, when the driver does not respond to the warnings.
